I would hugely recommend working with the British-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce if you are looking to develop new business in the region. We were looking to make new contacts and open new business opportunities in Slovenia. Martin and his team were such a great support on this. What would have taken us months to set up, Martin did in a matter of weeks. It is clear the teams network in the region can open doors, and can open them quickly. We spent a huge productive day in Slovenia, meeting all of the key organisations we wanted, all set up for us by Martin. I am certain this lead to new business for our organization.

Hides Fine Foods Limited. A family run online food specialist supporting the cottage industry, sourcing quality artisan’s produce from independent producers around the United Kingdom. Passionate about promoting artisan food, I established Hides Fine Foods to showcase some of the best food from around the United Kingdom, and to give local producers the opportunity to move into International markets. My mission is to work as a distributor supporting independent artisan producers distribute their goods throughout the UK & Europe initially then move onto global markets. Whilst I was looking for opportunities in European markets I registered on a webinar with Aleksandra Barič & Martin Retelj, it soon became clear that Slovenia would be a good entry point for Hides Fine Foods, the location is centrally located with easy access to other countries.

I arranged a meeting with Aleksandra a couple of months after the webinar, whilst she was touring the UK visiting different regions, promoting the benefits of exporting to Slovenia. We agreed the best time to come over on a trade mission would be the end of October.

The schedule which Martin put together for the end of October was exceptional, Taxi waiting for me at the airport on arrival, an hour briefing on business culture over coffee, then out on the evening with Barbara Uranjek CEO for the British Slovenian Chamber of Commerce {BSCC} for the Gazele awards, networking with some of the top businesses in Slovenia.

Throughout my short stay Martin Managed to schedule eight meetings, this was split between retailers and distributors. Everybody was supportive throughout the whole process, booking the hotel and organising transport to all of the meetings.

I would highly recommend contacting BSCC if you are looking to export your goods into new markets.

“GB eye ltd is based in Sheffield, United Kingdom – we specialise in licensed posters, merchandise, as well as frames and print on demand products. We always look for new ways and markets to expand our business. We found Exporting is Great very easy to use and find new opportunities to do so, it also adds the certain credibility to the companies on both sides of each opportunity. The local trade offices have been very responsive and helpful with providing the information and contacts they felt might be useful to ensure the success of the application. We have just secured our first partnership and we are hoping to do a lot more business with the help of EIG and the local Trade offices/Chambers of Commerce”

Rock Fall Export Success In Slovenia

Rock Fall UK is the UK's largest safety footwear brand for supplying into heavy duty industries and harsh environments. Formed in 1997, the company now produces styles for use in diverse range of industries including, Automotive, Electronics, Construction, Utilities, Cold Stores, Foundries and the Chemical Industry.

Due to consistent year on year growth in the UK, we decided in 2015 to expand our presence abroad and successfully developed partnerships with large distributors in Kenya, Nigeria, Australia, Philippines and the UAE.

With the success of the above international distributors, Richard Noon, Director of Rock Fall UK, aimed to establish distributors a little closer to home in Europe. The main countries in Europe such as France, Italy and Germany, although large users of Safety Footwear are incredibly competitive and saturated with manufacturers and brands of safety footwear. Based on this, Richard decided to attend a seminar in Leicestershire whereby he could meet and introduce his product range to Chambers in Europe but in countries such as Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia and Poland.

Richard met Aleksandra Barie, the trade adviser working for the British Slovenian Chamber of Commerce {BSCC} Aleksandra invited Richard to the Sports Meets Business Event which saw the England football team play Slovenia. Before the match, Richard attended a number of meetings with potential distributors that Aleksandras team had scheduled. The Slovenian Chamber managed to arrange 6 high quality appointments with some of the most prestigious Slovenian distributo rsin our market. Aleksandra also booked hotels and transport making the trip incredibly easy and straight forward. All we had to worry about is making a good impression at each of the appointments!

The team at the BSCC have been extremely supportive and attentive throughout the whole process, we have already started business with one of the distributors and our first year sales forecast for this one account is £80,000.00.
