Is Regulation a Catalyst or a Barrier to AI Adoption?
After an early surge of rapid breakthroughs and heightened expectations, artificial intelligence is now moving into a phase where the complexities of adoption are coming into focus. While the momentum may seem less dramatic, substantial progress continues behind the scenes.
Many organisations have started introducing AI into internal processes and customer offerings. However, moving to broader, structured adoption remains challenging. Compliance requirements, data accessibility, personal data considerations, and internal concerns often slow progress. The challenge is no longer primarily about technological capability, but about how organisations manage risks, accountability, and the necessary shift in mindset.
Regulation sits at the centre of this discussion. AI must be governed responsibly, within regulatory frameworks that support adoption rather than stand in the way of change. When designed and applied effectively, regulation should serve as a foundation for progress. The goal is to strike the right balance.
