Štajerska region brings together a strong industrial tradition, high-quality agricultural production, a rapidly growing tourism sector, and numerous innovative entrepreneurial initiatives. Despite this, the region faces challenges that require a strategic approach and the cooperation of all stakeholders: young people often leave for other regions or abroad after completing their education due to limited career opportunities; the development gap between urban centres and rural areas is widening; an ageing population and a shrinking active workforce are affecting the labour market and increasing pressure on public services; and in some parts of the region, transport connections and energy infrastructure require modernisation.

Despite these challenges, this region remains a region of exceptional potential – with its strategic location along international transport corridors, high quality of life, and people who preserve tradition while embracing innovation. Where are the key opportunities for economic growth and stronger competitiveness of Štajerska? How can the region attract more domestic and foreign investment? And how can it create an environment that supports the growth of businesses and attracts talent?

We will also host a special guest from the United Kingdom, who will share the story of how Manchester transformed itself from a traditional industrial city into one of the UK’s fastest growing economies. What made that transformation possible and what lessons could cities such as Maribor draw from Manchester’s experience?

These are al the questions we will address in Maribor as part of our Tea with Reason, organised together with SPIRIT Slovenia, Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport, and the Municipality of Maribor.

Attendance at the event is free of charge; however, advance registration via this link is required. Cancellations are free of charge up to 24 hours before the event. The event will be held in Slovenian and English. Simultaneous translation will be provided, with subtitles displayed on screen.
