BSCC Launches New Trade Platform to Support Slovenian Companies Entering the UK Market

Ljubljana, 22 April 2026 – The British-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce launched a new export program, a dedicated platform to support Slovenian companies in entering the UK market. The program offers a structured, practical approach to internationalisation, helping businesses plan and execute a more effective entry into one of Europe’s largest and most developed markets.

With over 69 million consumers, strong purchasing power, and openness to innovative and sustainable solutions, the United Kingdom remains an attractive market for Slovenian companies with significant growth potential. It also serves as a gateway to other international markets, particularly the Commonwealth markets, which encompass 56 countries around the world.

At a time when economic growth across Europe is cooling down, particularly in Germany, Slovenia’s key export partner, and global trade dynamics are becoming less predictable, including tariff measures imposed by the United States, diversification of export markets is becoming increasingly important. In this context, the UK stands out as a stable, competitive, and well-developed business environment offering new opportunities for growth.

Economic cooperation between Slovenia and the United Kingdom has been growing significantly. In 2024, total trade in goods and services exceeded €1 billion for the first time, while Slovenian exports more than doubled compared to 2019. Despite this progress, there is still considerable room for growth, especially in higher value-added sectors such as advanced manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, energy and sustainable solutions, and digital technologies.

"At the Chamber, we are seeing growing interest among Slovenian companies in the UK market, as well as a clear need for more structured support when entering this market. This new platform directly addresses that need by offering companies a clear framework, verified information, practical guidance, and access to relevant partners," said Barbara Uranjek Kozina, CEO of the British-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce.

The platform is built around eight practical steps that guide companies from initial preparation to securing their first deal in the UK. It supports them in defining their market entry strategy, selecting the appropriate business model, and understanding the tax and regulatory framework. It also helps companies navigate the local business culture, which differs in many ways from the Slovenian one, and adapt their offering to local market needs, which is often decisive factor for success. An important part of the platform is access to a network of trusted UK contacts, enabling companies to establish their first business connections and accelerate their market entry.
